49% percent of pregnancies in the United States are unplanned. Therefore, there is a possibility that alcohol exposure during the period before a woman is aware of her pregnancy may effect the developing baby.
One way to prevent an alcohol-exposed pregnancy is to prevent an unplanned pregnancy, through a couple’s use of contraception.
