Emory’s Center for Maternal Substance Abuse and Child Development (MSACD) Radio PSA Campaign

The Center for Maternal Substance Abuse and Child Development (MSACD) at Emory University is joining the cause to increase awareness of the risks of drinking alcohol while pregnant by airing radio PSA’s on five stations throughout Georgia from September 4th – 9th 2017. NOFAS #1: (airs 9/4/17 – 9/9/17) @ 50% – NOFAS #2: (airs 9/4/17 – 9/9/17) @ 50%. Arkansas Proclamation Presentation
The Arkansas Governor has signed the FASD awareness Day Proclamation – and will present and meet with Arkansas None for Nine Board, Task Force and family members to present Proclamation. The FASD Proclamation is signed and we are confirmed for photo-op with Governor at 2:00 on Wednesday, September 6th.

Open Project S.A.F.E. (Supportive Activities for Everyone) which is a monthly pot-luck gathering for families living with FASDs. The FASDay event is for families, caregivers, supports and professional teams to gather to recognize that during the 9 months of pregnancy there is no safe level of alcohol use. We will enjoy a meal together, hear from several local speakers, learn more about FASD and how we can help support MCFARES’ mission and play a trivia game.
1st Annual FASD Awareness Resource Fair and Family Day

VIP Community Mental Health Center, Inc. is hosting our first annual FASD Awareness Resource Fair & Family Day on Saturday, September 9th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. We are excited to host several local organizations at this event who provide services, resources, and support to families with children with FASD. We will also have plenty of fun stations for guests to do sensory activities and therapeutic take-home crafts, as well as spaces with yoga, a drumming circle course, and some meditation classes! Lunch and raffle tickets will be provided to all attendees free of charge. Come out to this fun and educational event for the community, aimed at raising awareness and providing resources, recreation, and hope to families who have a child with FASD!

Implications For Children & Adolescents with FASD

In Recognition Of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Awareness Month 2017 The Council of Southeast PA, Inc. Will be offering a 3 hour PCB approved Training: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD): Implications for Children & Adolescents with FASD Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), including Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and related disorders such as Alcohol Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder (ARND) are the most common form of developmental disability and birth defects in the western world. This training explains FASD and is designed to provide caregivers and professionals working with individuals and families affected by FASD a better understanding of the challenges FASD individuals face. The Council is proud to offer this in depth look at FASD presented by Internationally Certified Prevention Specialist David Fialko.
