Tuesday, November 28 is Giving Tuesday, started six years ago as a social media-based global day of giving. It is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and kicks off the charitable season when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
If you haven’t donated to NOFAS this year you can help families we serve without breaking the bank or busting your holiday budget. A $10 contribution is a big deal to NOFAS and to a family seeking help.
Each year, NOFAS responds to a growing number of specific information requests–over 3,350 requests and counting so far this year.
For each request, the NOFAS team develops a customized response that includes local and regional referrals and free electronic or printed materials. Expectant parents worried about alcohol exposure or families seeking support often have many questions and prefer to discuss their concerns or needs in a brief telephone consultation.
Every $10 helps NOFAS respond to a request for resources, and $25 allows NOFAS to listen to a family’s challenges and talk through the steps to get them on the right track. An understanding and helpful voice is priceless in the FASD community where most have experienced the frustration of stigma and a lack of resources.
If you can contribute $10 or $25 below, fantastic, thank you! if you can’t make a contribution this year, please continue your equally important advocacy on behalf of the cause.
