NOFAS Colorado was formerly the Colorado Fetal Alcohol and Substance Abuse Coalition. NOFAS Colorado is the Colorado Affiliate of the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. There are meetings the first Thursday of each month from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Committees meet at other times. Feel free to contact either April or Eileen, (contact information above). Organized in 1991, this statewide coalition is made up of family members and representatives from organizations interested in issues related to prenatal exposure to alcohol and other drugs and services for individuals affected by prenatal alcohol exposure and their families. Membership consists of educators, human service providers, public health workers, parents, therapists, physicians, nurses, and psychologists. The coalition sponsors conferences, educational workshops, and parent support activities.

Child Find is one of the primary public providers for developmental screening, assessment, and referral for children who have or are suspected of having developmental delays. Child Find is responsible for assessment and establishing eligibility for individuals from birth to 21 years of age for the school system.

The Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs program works to support children with special health care needs and their families. The Legal Center is an independent public interest non-profit specializing in civil rights and discrimination issues. They protect the human, civil and legal rights of people with mental and physical disabilities, people with HIV, and older people throughout Colorado. The Legal Center’s primary goal is to open up the legal system to those who would otherwise be unable to voice their needs. The Everyday Guide to Special Education Law, by Randy Chapman, is an essential tool for parents to help them get the best education possible for their child with disabilities. This book is also a great resource for teachers and school administrators.
