The Alaska Center For Resource Families (ACRF) was established to provide training, support, and information to Alaska licensed foster and adoptive parents. ACRF offers a variety of educational opportunities, onsite and distance delivery programs, for families who are wishing to become foster or adoptive parents and on-going training to meet the State of Alaska requirement for foster parents. ACRF has qualified staff in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau who conducts training, provides support and are available to answer questions. For families living in other areas, ACRF provides rural onsite training and telephonic support.

The Fairbanks Alaska multi-disciplinary FACES (Fetal Alcohol Community Evaluation Services) Diagnostic Team assesses and diagnosiss children between the ages of 5 up to age 14. Provides FASD diagnostic services to all citizens of Southeast Alaska. Eligibility criteria include: 1) A well documented history of prenatal alcohol exposure; 2) The client must have at least one person who is a consistent advocate and is willing to accompany the client to the clinic (examples: a parent, foster parent adoptive parent, close friend, spouse, legal guardian or agency advocate); 3) The parent or advocate must complete and submit the New Client Information Packet and release of information form(s) must be signed and records gathered before the assessment or a clinic date will be offered; 4)The client must be at least 2 years old; there is no upper age limit.

Akeelas Womens Outpatient Program provides general and intensive outpatient services to women who present with a variety of substance abuse issues. They attempt to meet their needs through an assessment to determine their level of addiction, the development of a treatment plan, group counseling, and one-on-one sessions. Because the program is specifically for women, they incorporate gender specific issues around relationships, parenting and related issues into their program.

Dena A. Coy is a comprehensive FAS prevention program. It offers substance abuse and mental health treatment for substance-abusing women and is designed to allow women to remain in treatment throughout the duration of their pregnancy and 10 weeks postpartum. The goal of this project is to provide statewide assistance, through training, technical assistance and support, to schools, individuals, families and communities working with children affected by FAS and other alcohol related disabilities. Services include consultation, education and training for the development of effective methods and strategies to teach and maximize learning in children prenatally exposed to alcohol. Services are available to public schools, private schools, pre-schools and parents who homeschool their children, as well as school administration and school boards. In addition, services will be available to other community agencies and individuals who work directly with affected children in settings outside of the school arena, such as infant learning programs, early intervention programs, child protective services, village councils, health professionals, mental health and social services workers, and the judicial system.
