“I've learned to cope with my disability. I've come to terms with the fact that I have fetal alcohol syndrome. I had spent my whole life feeling sorry for myself, going 'why did this happen to me' and blaming my mother for it, because she drank. But blaming others for it wasn't going to make it easy. Now I'm actually in a position where I can help others with their disabilities because I can relate to them.”

NOFAS Launches FASD Awareness Day Fundraising Drive

July 21 - NOFAS has kicked off a 50-day fundraising drive to raise $9,909 by FASD Awareness Day on September 9, 2009. Proceeds will go towards FASD awareness day activities and to increase outreach and support to FASD families. The fundraising goal represents both the annual date for FASD awareness day and the recommendation for women to abstain from alcohol during the nine months of pregnancy.

In celebration of the annual International FASD Awareness Day, NOFAS hopes to raise $9,909 by 9/9/09 to assist families living with FASD. All donations will be used to provide resources and services to individuals and families living with FASD. Each donor will be individually recognized on the “Garden of Giving” webpage, featuring flowers from the NOFAS logo.

Help fill the “Garden of Giving” by making a donation of $10, or whatever amount you can afford.

Donations can be made on the NOFAS website using your Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover card, or your PayPal account; or please send a check payable to NOFAS to:
