Conference Purpose and Goals
The Second Annual Breakthrough Relationship Conference, October 26 – 27th, 2012, offered by Caron Treatment Centers is designed to provide a unique opportunity to look specifically at the health and dysfunction in our human connections and the overall impact on quality of life. Experts from both the mental health and addiction fields will shed light on relevant issues and offer current, innovative approaches to promoting change and facilitating ongoing relationship health.

The Arctic FASD RTC is now offering FASD201 training to community professionals, students, parents and caregivers, and all other interested members of the public. All workshops take place at RADACT.
Registration
Registration is required.
Please register by noon on the Thursday prior to the scheduled workshop. Workshops with fewer than five registrants may be subject to cancellation. On-site registrations will be accepted on a space available basis.
Target Audience

- Students in health and allied health programs
- Educators
- Professionals who may work with individuals with FASD
These workshops meet the requirements for the State of Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Services’ FASD201: Developing Successful Interventions and Supports.
All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the workshop.
Prerequisites
Prior completion of at least one of the following is required prior to attending this workshop:
- FASD101
- FASD Foundations
- Online courses on FASDs offered through the UAA Department of Psychology/WICHE ICE
- Arctic FASD RTC Comprehensive FASD Workshop
- Arctic FASD RTC Train the Trainer Workshop
Learning Objectives
- Describe FASDs.
- Identify characteristics of FASDs within all life stages.
- Describe the importance of early identification and intervention.
- Describe secondary disabilities associated with FASDs.
- Design intervention strategies to help people with FASDs and their families.
- Discuss treatments and therapies available for individuals with FAS/FASDs.
Continuing Education Credits/Contact Hours
Continuing education (CE) credits or contact hours are available through the UAA Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services (CBHRS).
Participants will be eligible to receive four (4) continuing education (CE) credits/contact hours for the completion of the workshop. The processing fee for these four credits is $25.00.
CBHRS is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CBHRS maintains responsibility for this program and its content. These CE credits may be accepted by several licensing boards and for other professional purposes. Please consult with your licensing board to confirm the acceptance of these credits.
This activity has been submitted to the Montana Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. Montana Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
If you wish to register and receive continuing education credits for completing FASD201, please print and submit the CE credit form, along with the $25.00 CE processing fee.

Adolescents affected by prenatal exposure to alcohol endure untold additional challenges, trying to find a way to understand and interpret the stimuli that come to them from multiple directions. This webinar will analyze and discuss brain functioning in adolescents with FASD and how that functioning affects decision-making and the growing demands of school and peer relationships. Topic: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder FASD
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities’ Suicide Prevention Program, in partnership with the Supreme Court of Georgia’s Committee on Justice for Children, is pleased to announce the 10th Annual Professional Seminar Series.
The purpose of this series is to provide individuals who work with special needs and at-risk children, including professionals and family members, with an understanding of specific diagnoses and their associated interventions, which may include pharmacological, behavioral and family interventions. Each program will reference the risk of suicide in children with the particular diagnosis being addressed and provide resources for suicide prevention.
The seminar series is designed to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and to be inclusive of all parties that support children and youth: parents, foster parents and community organizations, local government entities, state departments and their contracted provider organizations.
Application for CEU’s have been submitted for Social Workers, Professional Counselors, and Substance Abuse Professionals. There is not cost to participants for these CEUs.
Four (4) CLEs (continuing legal education units) are available per seminar at a cost of $5.00 per credit hour. (Checks should be made out to the State Bar of Georgia.)
The State Bar of Georgia has an adjacent parking deck. The fee to park in the deck is $8.00 per day.
