I am an itinerant school social worker for the LKSD. I work with students and parents who live with the diagnosis of FASD. I am very interested in attending this conference, but am unable to travel on March 22nd. Is this training available via webinar? Or how could I obtain the information provided?

I’m a mom of a 12 year old who has mild FASD and am a member of the Massachusetts FASD Task Force. I’ve been asked to participate on the parent panel of the upcoming state-wide FASD Conference in April and would like to mention this bill. Is there a bill number or fact sheet I can access on-line? We have custody of nine year old twins with low spectrum fasd. It is very important that as much as possible is done for these children in intervention during pregnancy and education for educators. Many times these children look “normal ” and are thusly expected to act normally. There needs to be more education to ensure these children the best life possible.

How awesome! And how brave. I am a grandmother with twin grandchildren affected by FAS. My grandson has fused kidneys (they each have their own emptying system!) and he has had two surgeries dealing with his scrotum and a cyst on his neck. My granddaughter has been diagnosed with chronic benign neurtopenia and has some issues with passion out and is seeing a specialist this month with the results of an EEG. My grandson is starting to act out with impulsive behavior and his parents are seeing this as rebellion – still somewhat in denial to FAS or FASD. We are at a loss of where to get help. I have ordered some books, videos, brochures which I will be sharing with my son and mother to my grandchildren. I have also printed of hundreds of educational information. I need someone to talk to to guide me. I think I am going to be the proactive person, working toward educating my family in FAS. I won’t stop Could you reply with some resource phone numbers? Thank you. My grandchildren are 26 months old.

After reading the above drug addiction statistics, consider the number of people that do not admit to their addictions or drug use
because of embarrassment. Using Youth as Resources to get them involved is another pertinent External Asset.
The addict is prescribed a mind or mood altering drug, and they start taking the prescribed medication, and then they shortly go back to their drug of choice,
even if it has been years since last using that substance.
Over seventy-six percent of the population reported
using marijuana in that year”. Young adults are able to gain confidence in themselves when they are given useful roles in the
community. The thing that is most striking about this group is that they ranged in
age from 12 to 20 years of age. According to a research study, approximately 1 in
5 people between the age of 16 and 59 said that they have taken at least
one of the drugs mentioned. – Illicit prescription drug
abuse has risen 500% from the year 1990.

I live in Nevada, but am actually doing a IEP revisit in the next few weeks for my son who has FASD. I would love to see any documents available from this presentation to assist me during the IEP meeting. I have been doing a lot of research but anything and everything I can get my hands on will help.

My adopted 39 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with fetal alcohol. Your

I find our daily struggles, big and small, keep us gruendod and more importantly, connected. My relationship with my husband has endured many trials, many of which were out of our control. Because we have always been able to climb’ through together, I know we have a stronger foundation than many of our friends. Was is hard. Hell yes! Has it been worth it? You bet.You have such a beautiful voice. It is wonderful to read and share all the facets of your life, good, bad, personal, professional. Thanks for sharing Adele.

Turning Piont. Sometimes people who inceflnue you and give you support are totatl strangers. I ran into a couple litterally well crossing their yard at midnight high and on drugs. They invited me into there house and shared with me there most prized wisdom that they owned. They told be about Jesus and his death on the cross for all of my mistakes and sins. I invited him into my heart that night, and have never been the same. It was a night that changed my life, it was the night I transformed into a child of God. These strangers could have locked their doors and ingnored me, but out of love, they invited me in and encouraged me. So I can say that love changed my life.

Thanks for sharing your story. My mother didn’t believe that alcohol was harmful, yet I have struggled with issues related to her only occasional drinking while pregnant. The part I hate the most is getting bullied because I try so hard to do my best.
