“The most important thing that I want you to understand about our journey with FASD is that even though my son David has an IQ of 111 and attends public school in a regular classroom setting even though he looks like all of the other children and scores high on the state's standard of learning tests, the disabling effects of FASD are something we can never forget. He has no ability to regulate his behavior or activity level.”

The mission of the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS) is to address alcohol use during pregnancy, the leading known preventable cause of mental retardation and birth defects. The NOFAS web site provides information, resources, and referrals intended to promote health education and awareness in order to reduce the number of alcohol-exposed births. The web site also provides information for health care professionals and offers opportunities for participating and volunteering in NOFAS events.

Personal information from those who communicate with NOFAS online may be collected for the purpose of responding to specific questions, advising visitors of new online material, activities and events, and offering opportunities for contributing to NOFAS educational and advocacy programs. Individual requests to NOFAS are strictly confidential. Personal data such as your e-mail address, telephone number, address, age and gender may be collected in order to respond to your specific request for information.
