  • Circle of Hope-Birth Mother’s Network (COH-BMN) Founder and NOFAS Vice President and International Spokesperson, Kathy Mitchell will present at the upcoming Building FASD State Systems (BFSS) meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, May 11-13.  Kathy will be presenting along with COH-BMN members Sue Terwey of the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS); LaShaunda Harris of the Yakima Parent-Child Assistance Program (P-CAP); and Naomi Michalsen of Women in Safe Homes (WISH).  They will provide a workshop entitled Rising from the Ashes: Preventing FASD by Creating a Circle of Hope which will promote prevention of FASD, how to reach women using alcohol or other drugs and issues unique to birth mothers and their families.

    NOFAS will also address the BFSS State Coordinators and host an Affiliate Network breakfast meeting on Friday, May 13th.

  • The NOFAS FASD Parent Support Group will meet at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland, on Saturday, May 21, 2011 form 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
  • The NOFAS Leadership Awards Benefit will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in Washington, D.C.
  • NOFAS Affiliates will hold their annual summit on June 20-23 in Washington, D.C.
  • Currently, NOFAS is enhancing its FASD Information and Resource Clearinghouse, marketing the K-12 curriculum, expanding the Community Health Center/Maternal and Child Health screening initiative, working on the NOFAS FASD certification, and seeking funding for programs and the NOFAS Affiliate Network.
