NOFAS board member Michael Wolf developed the first-ever NOFAS event in New York City and along with NOFAS founder Patti Munter, hosted “Cards for a Cause” on November 10. The Texas Hold’em poker tournament featured prizes for the top players and dozens of fantastic and unique auction and raffle items. The event raised nearly $30,000 to fight FASD. NOFAS chair Terry Lierman and board member Larry Rosenthal helped raise funds and attended the event. Dr. Wolf and Charles Mulea, a prominent Manhattan ticket broker and event organizer with Top Shelf Tickets, recruited over 80 card players, New York celebrities and guests to raise money for NOFAS. Radio talk show host and entrepreneur Steve Feuerstein raised over $5,000 as auctioneer for items such as a dinner for two at the ultra exclusive Rao’s Restaurant in East Harlem, a very, very rare behind the scenes tour of Sesame Workshop (including the chance to sit on the set during taping of an episode of Sesame Street!), and a private lunch with radio personality Lelani Clark.
