2005 NOFAS Affiliate Update

NOFAS is pleased to announce that the one year anniversary for the affiliate program is around the corner. Last December, NOFAS extended its outreach and brand name by affiliating with seven state FASD organizations. This past year, NOFAS affiliates have reached many milestones and accomplished a great deal. NOFAS is extremely proud to be working with the field’s top researchers, service providers, parents and advocates who comprise the affiliate pool. In September 2005, Joyce Holl and Judge Susan Carlson who run Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome worked in collaboration with NOFAS to organize a public awareness campaign that received a huge response. Julie Gelo and Christie Connors of NOFAS Washington put together a FASD family summer camp in Sultan, WA that was attended by a number of families.

NOFAS has featured its affiliates on the NOFAS website and at several conferences and summit. Other NOFAS affiliates include: Deb Evensen of NOFAS Alaska, Diane Malbin of NOFAS Oregon, Judy Struck of NOFAS South Dakota, Peggy Combs, Eva Carner and Amber Kesterson of California Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Organization (CALFAS) and Stefany Saccente and Cindy Farrow of NOFAS Connecticut.

“With CalFAS being such a young organization, it is such a tremendous benefit to have the NOFAS name behind you.  Not only does this make us so much more credible, but NOFAS is an endless resource of supplies and support.” – Peggy Combs of CalFAS.

NOFAS has created a website just for our Affiliates. The site contains many useful tools and resources including a message board where members can exchange information and ideas. Please visit: http://www.nofas.org/affiliate_web/affiliatehome.aspx
