DESCRIPTION:<p>The Arctic FASD Regional Training Center is now offering FAS
 D training to community professionals\, students\, parents and caregivers\
 , and all other interested members of the public.</p>\n<p><strong><em>Regi
 stration is required.</em></strong></p>\n<p>Please register by noon on the
  Thursday prior to the scheduled workshop. Workshops with fewer than five 
 registrants may be subject to cancellation. On-site registrations will be 
 accepted on a space available basis. Maximum number of registrants per tra
 ining is 12.</p>\n<p><a href='http://www.uaa.alaska.edu/arcticfasdrtc/trai

 tion (CE) credit form.</p>\n<p>(Please note\, if you wish to receive conti

 </p>\n<p><strong>Continuing Education Credits and Contact Hours</strong></
 p>\n<p>Continuing Education (CE) credits or contact hours are available th
 rough the UAA Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services (CBHRS).<
 /p>\n<p>Participants will be eligible to receive four (4) continuing educa
 tion (CE) credits or contact hours for the completion of the workshop. The
  processing fee for these four credits is $25.00.</p>\n<p>CBHRS is approve
 d by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing educatio
 n for psychologists. CBHRS maintains responsibility for this program and i
 ts content. These CE credits may be accepted by licensing boards and for o
 ther professional purposes. Please consult with your licensing board to co
 nfirm acceptance of these credits.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This activity has bee
 n submitted to Montana Nurses Association for approval to award contact ho
 urs. Montana Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing
  nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commissio
 n on Accreditation.</p>\n<p>If you wish to register and receive continuing
  education credits or contact hours for completing the FASD Foundations tr
 aining\, please print and submit the CE credit form\, along with the $25.0

 p>These workshops meet the requirements for the State of Alaska’s Departme
 nt of Health and Social Services’ FASD101: Insights into Fetal Alcohol Spe
 ctrum Disorders training.</p>\n<p>All participants will receive a certific
 ate upon completion of the workshop.</p>\n<p><strong>Prerequisites</strong
 ></p>\n<ul>\n<li>No previous knowledge of FASD is required.</li>\n</ul>\n<
 p><strong>Learning Objectives</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the effects
  of alcohol on the developing embryo and fetus.</li>\n<li>Explain the char
 acteristics of FAS/FASDs.</li>\n<li>Explain how to prevent alcohol-exposed
  pregnancies.</li>\n<li>Describe how individuals with FAS/FASDs are screen
 ed and diagnosed.</li>\n<li>Discuss treatments and therapies available for
  individuals with FAS/FASDs.</li>\n<li>Describe the psycho-social and cult
 ural effects of FASDs.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The purpose of this activity is to 
 increase nurses’ ability to effectively prevent alcohol-exposed pregnancie
 s\, to identify individuals who may be living with an FASD\, and to refer 
 individuals for an FASD diagnostic evaluation. Criteria for successful com
 pletion of this activity include attendance at 100% of the session and act
 ive participation in group discussion. There is no identified conflict of 
 interest for any planner or presenter involved with this educational activ
