DESCRIPTION:<p>The Arctic FASD Regional Training Center is now offering FAS
 D training to community professionals\, students\, parents and caregivers\
 , and all other interested members of the public.</p>\n<p align='left'><st
 rong><em>Registration is required.</em></strong></p>\n<p>Please register b
 y noon on the Thursday prior to the scheduled workshop. Workshops with few
 er than five registrants may be subject to cancellation. On-site registrat
 ions will be accepted on a space available basis. Maximum number of regist
 rants per training is 12.</p>\n<p align='left'><a href='http://www.uaa.ala

 5 align='left'>Continuing Education Credits and Contact Hours</h5>\n<p ali
 gn='left'>Continuing Education (CE) credits or contact hours are available
  through the UAA Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services (CBHRS
 ).</p>\n<p align='left'>Participants will be eligible to receive four (4) 
 continuing education (CE) credits or contact hours for the completion of t
 he workshop. The processing fee for these four credits is $25.00.</p>\n<p>
 CBHRS is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor con
 tinuing education for psychologists. CBHRS maintains responsibility for th
 is program and its content. These CE credits may be accepted by licensing 
 boards and for other professional purposes. Please consult with your licen
 sing board to confirm acceptance of these credits.</p>\n<div></div>\n<div>
 \n<p>This activity has been submitted to Montana Nurses Association for ap
 proval to award contact hours. Montana Nurses Association is accredited as
  an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Creden
 tialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.</p>\n<p align='left'>If you 
 wish to register and receive continuing education credits or contact hours
  for completing the FASD Foundations training\, <a>please print and submit
  the CE credit form</a>\, along with the $25.00 CE processing fee.</p>\n<h

 uirements for the State of Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Servic
 es’ FASD101: Insights into Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders training.</p>
 \n<p>All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the wo
 rkshop.</p>\n<h5 align='left'>Prerequisites</h5>\n<ul>\n<li>No previous kn
 owledge of FASD is required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h5 align='left'>Learning Object
 ives</h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the effects of alcohol on the developing emb
 ryo and fetus.</li>\n<li>Explain the characteristics of FAS/FASDs.</li>\n<
 li>Explain how to prevent alcohol-exposed pregnancies.</li>\n<li>Describe 
 how individuals with FAS/FASDs are screened and diagnosed.</li>\n<li>Discu
 ss treatments and therapies available for individuals with FAS/FASDs.</li>
 \n<li>Describe the psycho-social and cultural effects of FASDs.</li>\n</ul
 >\n<div>The purpose of this activity is to increase nurses’ ability to eff
 ectively prevent alcohol-exposed pregnancies\, to identify individuals who
  may be living with an FASD\, and to refer individuals for an FASD diagnos
 tic evaluation. Criteria for successful completion of this activity includ
 e attendance at 100% of the session and active participation in group disc
 ussion. There is no identified conflict of interest for any planner or pre
 senter involved with this educational activity.</div>\n</div>\n<div></div>
