“A number of you have spoken today that the idea of consequences is not that meaningful for youth with FASD. But the justice system is built on consequences. So we really need to train professionals in the justice system in new methods and new strategies because what I've heard today is that these youth can make progress, can make positive changes, and can really be contributing members of society.”

2008 NOFAS Awards Benefit is May 14th

The annual NOFAS Leadership Awards Benefit, hosted by Tom and Linda Daschle and Senator Lisa Murkowski, is set for the evening of Wednesday, May 14, on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The Schering-Plough Corporation is underwriting the most important fundraising event of the year for NOFAS honoring leading lawmakers, and FASD researchers and advocates. Invited benefit honorees include Senators Tim Johnson, Kay Bailey Hutchison and Max Baucus, and Dr. Ken Warren, Associate Director for Basic Research, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, National Institutes of Health. An FASD advocate will also be selected by NOFAS this month for recognition at the event.
